This paper presents “Theoretical Approach and Critical Perspective in the Study of Islamic Political Movements” as an excerpt from the doctoral dissertation titled “Victims of Terrorism in the Middle East
Prevention and Protection”, conducted at the Faculty of Criminology, Criminal Justice and Security Studies, University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (2021 2025).
The summary of this approach is based on the study of the legislative framework related to the prevention and suppression of terrorism in the Middle East, as well as on classical sociology and other sciences whose insights provide a scientific basis for proving the thesis that Islam inherently supports and protects the victims of terrorism and violence.
Our intention is to briefly present the theoretical foundation for this doctoral dissertation and to refute the claims about violence that enemies of Islam impose on Muslims through “Islamic terrorism” as a form of “Islamophobia,” proving that Islam does not support terror or terrorism.
Terrorism is not a product of “religious hatred”; rather, religion has been misused so that the “fight against terrorism” could serve as a means of addressing the global economic crisis. The majority of terrorism victims in the Middle East have emerged as a result of economic and political problems (or struggles for power) in these societies. Therefore, the governments in these societies are obliged to provide assistance, support, protection, and compensation for the victims of terrorism.
