SPECIFICITY OF PHYSICAL THERAPY AFTER IMPLANTATION OF ENDOPROSTHESIS IN THE HIP JOINT IN USERS OF THE NURSING HOME “PODGORICA”

Abstract

The purpose of the paper is to show the specifics of physical therapy after the installation of an endoprosthesis in the hip joint in three users of the Nursing Home "Podgorica", where kinesitherapy was applied in three periods: from 01.08.2023. until 13.10.2023, from 23.01.2024. until 20.02.2024. and from 07.05.2024. until 23.05.2024, and depending on when the operations were performed.
Methodology: After installing an endoprosthesis in the hip joint of three users of the Home, we applied kinesitherapy, which lasted an average of 21 days. Female user (age 89) – a total of 32 therapeutic days. Female user (age 70) – a total of 21 therapeutic days. Female user (age 74) – a total of 10 therapeutic days. The average age of the three users was 77.66 years.
Results: The users' quality of life is better: without pain, able to walk independently, independent in performing activities of daily life and included in all activities in the Home: morning exercises, trips, fashion shows, socializing, visits, exhibitions, going to the market, etc.
Conclusions: Physical therapy is one of the most important factors affecting user satisfaction after hip arthroplasty. The quality of the physical therapy depends on how quickly the user will regain the lost muscle strength, mobility, functionality, and thus the quality of life. Education as part of physical therapy can prevent some unwanted consequences in the early postoperative period, such as hip dislocation. Along with exercise, it is very important to devote time to preventing complications because they can interfere with the primary goals of recovery.
