PROFESSIONAL REALIZATION IN EMERGENCY CARE - STUDENT READINESS AND EXPECTATIONS

The present study examines students' attitudes and expectations towards working in emergency care settings. This field is an important component of the healthcare system, which requires a high level of professionalism and readiness to act in a dynamic and stressful environment. In recent years, healthcare in our country has faced a serious shortage and uneven distribution of labor resources. These factors make it difficult to provide quality health care and increase the burden on available medical staff. Particularly hard hit by these problems is emergency care, where the shortage of qualified specialists directly affects the speed and efficiency of emergency responses. Understaffing often forces teams to work overtime, increasing the risk of burnout and mistakes. In the context of increasing demand for emergency medical care, finding sustainable solutions to overcome these challenges is key. This includes attracting and retaining young professionals by creating favorable working conditions and supporting their professional development. Objective: to identify the factors that influence the attitudes of future health care professionals towards work in Emergency Care, as well as to propose measures to increase their motivation and readiness to work in this field. Material and methods: The survey was conducted in the period m. March - m. November 2024, and a questionnaire was developed and used to collect the data, among 120 students from various specialties studying at the "Prof. Dr. Ivan Mitev"-Vratsa to MU-Sofia. Results: Despite the difficulties, students show interest and willingness to work in the structures of emergency care, looking for challenges and opportunities for professional development. Their motivation and commitment are key to improving the quality of healthcare. The main factors that shape students' attitudes towards their professional realization include personal interest in dynamic and diverse work, quality education and training during the studies, as well as prospects for professional development and career growth. The serious shortage and imbalance in the distribution of labor resources in health care, especially in Emergency Care, require urgent measures to improve working conditions and encourage young professionals to orient themselves to work in this sector.
