THE IMPACT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ON FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING METHODOLOGIES: THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS AND A RESEARCH PROJECT
Keywords:

Foreign language education in the age of artificial intelligence is undergoing a complex transformation that reshapes both the teacher’s role and the methodological frameworks applied in language learning. This article adopts a conceptual and project‑research orientation. It explores the potential of AI‑driven tools—including adaptive platforms, speech recognition systems, conversational agents (chatbots), and machine translation applications—to foster the development of essential language competences: lexical, grammatical, phonetic, and communicative. The focus is on upper‑secondary students who study English at the B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. A methodological design for future empirical investigation is outlined, encompassing classroom observation, comparative analysis of traditional and innovative approaches, semi‑structured interviews, and standardized surveys. The discussion emphasizes anticipated benefits, possible constraints, and ethical considerations linked to the integration of artificial intelligence into language education, aiming to provide a foundation for subsequent empirical studies rather than reporting specific results.
