ANALYSIS OF HOSPITAL MORBIDITY AND MORTALITY IN THE AREA OF THE CITY OF SHTIP FOR YEAR 2021

The aim of the research of this scientific paper is to present the situation with hospital morbidity and
mortality in the area of the city of Shtip for year 2021.
Research methodology: Data on hospital morbidity and mortality are obtained from the Report on inpatient
treatment, Exemplar no. 3 -21 61A from hospital health care. The method of work is statistical - informative with a
descriptive analysis.
Research results: In 2021, 9,212 people were treated in the hospital wards of the PHI Clinical Hospital Shtip. Of
these, 4,486 are male and 4,726 are female. A total of 48,263 hospital days were completed. The average length of
treatment was 5.2 days. A total of 117 doctors were hired, of which 71.7% are specialists. In first place are "Diseases
of the circulatory system" with a total number of 1,610 treated patients who spent 5,277 hospital days or 3.3 days
average duration of treatment. The specific morbidity rate of circulatory system diseases is 181.8/10,000 inhabitants.
The "Certain infectious and parasitic diseases" group follows with a total number of registered patients for all age
categories of 14.6%, who completed 12,065 hospital days with an average length of treatment of 9.0 days. The
specific morbidity rate for this group of diseases is 152.2/10,000 inhabitants. The third place in hospital morbidity
belongs to "Diseases of the digestive system" with a total number of 774 treated patients or 8.4% of the total treated
patients, who spent 4,371 hospital days with an average length of treatment of 5.6 days. The rate of specific
morbidity in diseases of the digestive system is 87.4/10,000 inhabitants. During year 2021, there are the most
deceased persons from "Certain infectious and parasitic diseases" and their number is 59 persons, of which 71.1%
are men, while 28.9% are women. "Diseases of the circulatory system" followed with 40 deceased persons, and
"Diseases of the digestive system" is in third place with a total number of 17 deceased persons.
Conclusions: The largest number of treated patients who required hospitalization during 2021 were "Diseases of the
circulatory system" with 17.5% of the total number of hospitalized patients who spent 5,277 days of hospitalization
or the average duration of treatment was 3.3 days.
Recommendations: The recommendations resulting from this scientific paper are aimed at highlighting the
importance of these "social diseases" which in the largest percentage lead to the hospitalization of the population.
The prevention of "Diseases of the circulatory system" leads to a reduction in the costs incurred during the treatment
of the same, and also reduces the number of people who need medical treatment.
