Abstract

Macedonian front known as the Thessaloniki front is not researched enough compared to the other fronts in the FWW. The front line in 1915 was stretching from Ohrid, Galicica, Prespa Lake, the tops of the Baba Mountain, Nidze (Kajmakcalan), and Belasica, along the river Mesta to river Struma coast to the Aegean Sea for three years. From the south side were the armies of the Ananta (English, French, Serbian, Russian, Greek, soldiers from the colonies), and from the north, the Germans, Austrian-Hungarian, and Bulgarian forces. That was a conflict between millions of soldiers from several different armies. The battles lead on the highest mountain top, the weather conditions, and the victims make this front line very specific and hard. The Macedonian population who was in the middle of the front suffered a lot. They were used as workforces and were exposed to different requisitions for supporting both sides of the front and at the same time, they were mobilized and recruited by them. The harsh bombing caused great material damage and a lot of civilians died.
