COMPUTER ASSISTED LANGUAGE LEARNING

The development of informational and communicational technologies has led to the expansion of the use of technology in teaching. Linguistics and technology have been the object of different studies through the decades with only the goal of their mutual combination in teaching. New achievements have enabled faster and easier communication, and with that goes the exchange of information, and the widening of knowledge and teaching becomes faster. Magnúsdóttir (2010:2) says that new technologies have entered our lives strongly and it can be said that, whether we like it or not, they are increasingly influencing our daily activities in which the Internet plays a leading role. The result of these studies brought a term called Computer Assisted Language Learning or CALL, which finds its beginnings in the United States.
The term Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) is mainly used in foreign language teaching. The term itself was first used in the 1950s. From that period until today, the research of Computer Assisted Language Learning has flourished thanks to the development of technology and its increasing use in education.
Language experts in the Balkan area aren’t very familiar with the topic of Computer Assisted Mother Tongue Language Learning. This situation is the result of poor opportunities in which state Bosnia and Herzegovina was found after war. It is hard to talk about CALL in this country when the teachers are still using the basic teaching aids and materials. This paper seeks to describe Computer Assisted Bosnian Language Learning, its development in the countries where it is developed, and will try to review the tools that could be used in Computer Assisted Bosnian Language Learning.
