FEATURES OF MODERN ACTS OF PIRACY AS A MARITIME CRIME

There are a number of features of modern acts of piracy as a maritime crime. Thus the emphasis of this paper is an examination of "piracy," one of the oldest maritime crimes whose commission is still relevant today. Piracy is on the rise, and it represents a danger to marine security. Piracy is exceedingly socially damaging and dangerous, according to international law. The following are the directions in which piracy occurs: obstructing free navigation; threatening the lives of passengers and ship crews; challenging maritime security; negative impact on international trade relations. The Anti-Piracy Convention of 1926 was one of the earliest attempts to design and construct a complete international framework to combat piracy. Because no agreement has been achieved between UN members, this act remains unenforceable. The 1958 High Seas Convention establishes the legal framework for piracy. Piracy is defined as the use of violence, detention, and plunder by one vessel against another at sea. Because these requirements are listed in order, they must be defined. The definition of "piracy" is formed by combining Art. 15 of the 1958 Convention with Art. 101 of the 1982 Convention, which considers the definition of piracy in different ways. Piracy is defined as any unlawful act of violence, detention, or robbery intended against another ship, aircraft, or humans or their goods on board on the high seas; against a ship, aircraft, or people on board on the high seas, property in a location outside of any state's authority, etc. The definition of the term "piracy" is examined in this study; the main and most dangerous points of potential attacks are identified; cooperation between countries in the most dangerous areas is emphasized; and the crime of "robbery" committed against passengers and crew is considered to be part of acts of piracy. When it comes to collaboration between countries in the most dangerous regions, it's vital to remember that one of the ways to improve stability in these areas is to join forces with countries that can't guarantee their own security. In the current work, we look at scenarios in which pirates assault ships. The current study examines situations in which pirates attempt to seize control of a maritime vessel in the event of a pirate attack. These activities put ships near the accident in danger, and they also endangered the marine environment at risk after the capture. Port security must be improved. Pirates' activity is generally aimed to stealing money and goods from ships, as well as physical and emotional harassment of crew members and passengers, which can lead to death. One of the measures taken in this direction was the International Maritime Organization's establishment of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code).
