CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES, RISKS AND THREATS TO THE SECURITY OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA

The nature of modern security threats has imposed the need to address security issues and those bodies
and organizations that have never had security in their scope of work. The development of modern societies has led
to the emergence of new security risks and threats, while the old ones have acquired new forms and dimensions.
New and old security challenges, risks and threats have emerged, from civil armed conflicts, organized crime, hightech
crime, terrorism, migration, human trafficking, pandemics to climate change. It is obvious that modern
terrorism, organized crime, political and social instability, natural and technical-technological disasters, different
"philosophy of security", but new ways must be sought to predict adverse security events in time and take
appropriate measures to prevent them. adverse effects and mitigation. All the events that are happening on a global
level are spilling over into all parts of the globe, there are no more privileged and spared ones. So global threats have
become regional and national. Considering the security factors of small states, among other factors, the military
factor has an indispensable role as a component of the armed forces of one country. The aim of this paper is to
present the impact of the asymmetric nature of temporary threats, challenges and risks on the security of the
Republic of Serbia and to define the direction of the doctrinal-material modernization process with the aim of
adequate response, ie possible prediction of capabilities of Serbia.
