“BURNING OUT” SYNDROM AS AN APPERANCE AMONG PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS

The modern way of living is a constant source of stress for the individual. The changes that appear in the
social, economic and political sphere condition and impose change in work organizations. Education as an important
area if human life is also subjected to these changes. They directly reflect on the teachers as bearers of education,
who are constantly exposed to new requirements and duties related to teaching. Teaching as a profession includes
many roles for the teacher: educator, preceptor, communicator, collaborator, administrator, etc. Each of these roles
entails demands that the teacher must fulfill. In the last twenty years in RNM, teacher have been exposed to a large
number of social, reform and economic changes in education.
Stress and “the burnout” syndrome at work stand out as important social and professional phenomena whose
consequences are reflected on work and efficiency in the performance of the work load. The “burnout” syndrome is
defined as “a prolonged response to a chronic exposure to emotional and intrapersonal stress at work”, , and consists
of three components: emotional exhaustion (oversensitivity, emotional emptiness, numbness), depersonalization(
feeling of alienation, impersonal relationship with colleagues) and low achievements (self-deprecation, feeling of
incompetence that reduces work effectiveness).
The purpose of this research is to record the occurrence of “burnout” among primary teachers and to determine the
degree of “burnout”. In this research a checklist for occupational burnout was used, and respondents answered with
Yes of No only to record the occurrence. In the initial application of the original scale, four factors were singled
out, which we also used in this research. It consist of 21 particles (statements), divided into four subscales: A)
Perception of administrative support; B) Satisfaction with the chosen occupation; C) Coping with stress at the
workplace and D) Attitudes towards students.
From the used self-test for the degree of expression of the occurrence of “burnout”: very low, low, moderate and
high degree.
