PRIMARY PTERIGIUM RECCURENCE TIME AFTER SURGICAL EXCISION WITH AUTOTRANSPLANTATION LIBERA WITH THE GRAFT FROM SUPERIOR OR INFERIOR TEMPORAL CONJUNCTIVA

Pterygium is an activ invasive inflamatory process, a key feature of which is focal limbal failure. Pterygium is a long term and recurent illness, one that leads to permanent decrease of the visual acuity and esthetic change of the eye s anterior segment. The aim of the research was to evaluate and define the follow-up time after the surgical excision with autotransplantation libera with the graft from superior or inferior temporal conjunctiva, needed to indentify recurrence. Matherial and method:120 patients with primary pterygium were surgicaly treated -excised with autotransplantation libera with graft from superior temporal conjunctiva (6o patients) and same number of patients 60 of them were surgicaly treated -excised with autotransplantation libera with graft from superior temporal conjunctiva. The patients were conttinually followed before and post operatively with Haag-Streit 900 slit lamp to measure the size of the pterygium and to discaver the postoperativ recurrence. Resolts: Primary pterygium recurence time in theGroup number 1 is 6,0±3,0 months, and in Group number 2 is 5,0±4,0 months.
Conclusion: The optimal follow-time after the excision of pterygim with graft from superior or inferior bulbar conjunctiva is 12 months, for identifying recurrence of pterygium.
