Abstract

This research paper examines the crucial role of educational psychology in addressing the increasingly prevalent issues of emotion, stress, and anxiety, which significantly impact students' academic performance and overall well-being. The study investigates the psychological theories and practices those educational psychologists utilize to identify, understand, and alleviate these mental health challenges in educational settings. A key focus of this research is analyzing how stress and emotions influence the learning environment. While stress is a physiological mechanism that enables organisms to adapt and survive external and internal challenges, it is often detrimental to the learning process when it becomes chronic. Over the past fifteen years, educational psychology has experienced rapid growth and development as a profession, contributing significantly to cognitive science and the learning sciences. Emotional instability and stress are major disruptions that affect both teachers and students, leading to sentimental, cognitive, behavioral, and physiological changes that strongly influence intellectual performance. The activation of coping strategies is crucial for positively addressing challenges, generating positive emotions that are essential for the self-regulation of learning. Due to the fact that the field of education is faced with behavioral characteristics and other psychological aspects, it requires the knowledge of psychology. In the interest of the learning process to be successful, every teacher in the class who acts as an educator and instructor must understand the differences in students' psychological characteristics. Dealing with the psychological characteristics of each student, school teachers will manage to implement personalized learning based on the psychological characteristics of the student. Emotions can profoundly affect the learning process, underscoring the importance of identifying and managing them effectively. This paper proposes future research to test strategies aimed at mitigating the negative impact of stress and emotions on learning. In conclusion, effective management of emotions in stressful situations has the potential to enhance learning outcomes by improving attention and problem-solving capacities.
