A TRACE IN HISTORY

The development follows the history of the community center in Nessebar during the first half century of its existence. It appeared as a result of the struggle to impose the Bulgarian language and culture in the Black Sea city during a dominant Greek cultural invasion; it develops and strengthens with the cooperation of cultural and educational actors such as Penyo Popov, Hristo Kudev, Georgi pop Sava Katrafilov, Marin Majdrakov, and a number of others.
In the development of the first Bulgarian community center in Nessebar, three stages stand out, and they are reflected in its names and their change:
- from 1905 to 1942, it was called „Reader“;
- in 1942-1953 it bears the name „Father Paisii“;
- in 1953, it was named after the local anti-fascist Yana Luskova.
Since 1925, the community center has had its own building - the premises of the former Greek school, and this gives impetus to mass public events.
The exhibition describes a number of initiatives of book lovers, theater, singing and dancing ensembles. Local residents of different ages and with different cultural interests participate in them. Thus, along with the existing school, the community center becomes an important cultural center. Credit for this goes to Yana Luskova, Hristo Minkov, Stefan Vladkov.
The collected facts and their cultural-historical analysis allow us to draw the following conclusions:
The community center in Nessebar fits both in the cultural and educational policy of the Bulgarian state, regardless of the changes in the country's political climate over the past half-century. It leads a peaceful struggle for the Bulgarian national cause, attracting to it the settlers from Odrin Thrace and Aegean Macedonia.
The most prominent residents of the city took part in its creation and strengthening: rulers, teachers, lawyers, musicians and their families. The number of women often exceeds the number of men participating in individual DIY events. As women form models for family education, their family members are also involved in community work.
The community formed the worldview and early professional orientation of generations of children and students, who later continued to pass on the love of knowledge as a spiritual legacy to their own successors.
