This paper examines the pedagogical and graphic design and textbooks and their influence on students’ motivation and interest in learning within primary education. The textbook, as one of the most important teaching resources, has a significant role in the educational process because its content organization and visual presentation directly affect students’ understanding, attention, and engagement. The research is based on a combined quantitative and qualitative methodology and is designed as a descriptive and evaluative study. Methods applied in the research include textbook analysis, surveys, and interviews with students, teachers, parents, and graphic designers. The sample includes participants from primary schools in Skopje, aiming to provide a broader perspective regarding the quality and effectiveness of textbooks. The collected data were processed through descriptive statistics and qualitative analysis. The findings indicate that textbooks with clear structure, balanced textual and visual elements, appropriate illustrations, and well-organized educational content significantly contribute to increasing students’ motivation and interest in learning. At the same time, certain weaknesses were identified regarding visual organization, technical design, and content presentation, which may reduce the effectiveness of the learning process. The study concludes that pedagogical and graphic design represent essential factors in improving the quality of teaching and learning. Therefore, systematic improvement of textbooks through the implementation of modern pedagogical and visual standards is necessary, together with the inclusion of interdisciplinary expert teams in their creation and evaluation.
