Abstract

In the report, the author analyzes and criticizes the shortcomings of communication between geographers and economists in science and practice. Interaction has been affected since its beginning about a century ago. Economic - geographical problems remain throughout the different periods of social development. Membership in the EU and NATO not only did not change, but deepened economic - geographical problems. With some of them, such as depopulation, the difference between poor and rich people and territories, Bulgaria is leading not only in the EU, but also far beyond it. Attention is paid to both university and high school secondary education. Instead of geography as a science and practice leading politics and the state, in our country it is exactly the opposite.
The paths of economics and geography intersected in antiquity, but in modern post-Renaissance times this happened in the 18th century. First in France and Russia. The enlightened French kings demanded information about the state, and so gradually, from the science of the state, political statistics were passed through, and economic geography was reached.
Based on the great backwardness of the Russian Empire, as taught in our country, it turns out that Mikhail Lomonosov was the first to use the expression economic geography in 1760. This fact is hardly the fruit of the ingenious imagination of the talent whose name Moscow State University bears.
In the German geographical school that emerged in the 19th century, economics entered geography through the so-called cameral (chamber-room-Latin) statistics without creating a main direction. This is also clearly seen in the introductory lecture of Dr. Anastas Ishirkov. In it, he expounds the ideas of his German teachers. Economic geography is missing from the three main sections of geographical science. Economics and economic geography were part of anthropogeography in Bulgaria until 1948, where they had a modest place.
