DEVELOPMENT OF APPLIED AND DECORATIVE ART SKILLS OF CHILDREN AT PRESCHOOL AGE THROUGH FINE ARTS ACTIVITIES

Abstract

This publication presents the opportunities which applied and decorative art, one of the most ancient form
of artistic activity opens to children’s development. Being an indispensable part of human aesthetic needs, it can be
seen in every form of everyday life. Some of the works of applied art carry an entirely utilitarian meaning (clothes,
dishes, furniture), and hence their decoration is quite consistent with the very practical purposes. While another part
of the artefacts discussed demonstrate applied-decorative character - embroidery, fabrics, murals etc., and their
formation can be conditional to a certain extent, in terms of the motives and plots employed. This article traces
down different aspects of the very development of this art, along with an analysis of its modern application. We
argue that the development of this type of art can be considered as a system that upgrades the skills of children, and
therefore has to be included in the curriculum of "Fine Arts" in the kindergarten, especially when it comes to its
specifics, techniques, guidelines and prospects for successful pedagogical interaction.
A special emphasis in the article is put on the training in decorative drawing, application and modeling in terms of
expressiveness, and the meanings of all components used, such as decoration, color, composition and shaping.
