THE IMPACT OF BALL POSSESSION DURING A FOOTBALL MATCHES IN THE 2023/2024 PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON

England is a country that attracts millions of viewers to its stadiums and screens with its attractive football championships and tournaments. For many years, the Premier League has been considered the strongest championship in the world, with multi-million dollar transfer deals at all levels. Good football keeps viewers interested because of the different approaches and tactics chosen by team managers. In the last season the champion was Manchester (City) and the second place was for Asenal (London). In order to fully understand the role of ball possession and which approach is considered the most successful in top teams, we will examine several indicators in depth. The aim of this study is to examine the impact of possession on final league position and goals scored. Various correlations were found between progressive passes, goals scored and final position. The analysis of the results shows that ball possession is an important but not always the most appropriate approach to achieving a high footballing score. Average age is not required to finish high in the Premier League.
