INDIVIDUAL CAREER PLANNING DURING THE TRANSITION TO HIGH SCHOOL AGE
Keywords:
career planning, career decision, career stagesAbstract
Career planning helps learners adapt to changing personal needs and labor market demands as they move from one career stage to another. Career planning also helps them make better career decisions and influences the achievement of personal goals. Career planning includes five main stages. At each of them, a person must answer a set of questions.
In pedagogical support of career planning, a variety of structured exercises are used to stimulate thought and provide a solution to the individual stages of the process. When making a career decision, learners must consider more than just the immediate consequences of their actions. An important personal aspect of career planning is the need to seek accurate information. The results of a survey conducted among 201 seventh graders show that a large proportion of them need counseling related to their future career.
Planning a traditional career today may not only be very difficult, but also in many cases misleading in terms of the individual.
