ETHICAL PRINCIPLES IN TAYLORISM

Frederick Taylor's conception of the industrial production process is an attempt to scientifically solve the manufacturing and technology problematics of the machinery industry. The great development of the productive forces conditioned by the second industrial revolution, which led to the rapid improvement of the machinery themselves of mass production, additional tools, as well as the energy sources themselves, enabled more prominent to see the importance of organizing the production-technological process itself. Through the implementation of Taylor rationalization, it has been proven empirically to increase profit, and in historical terms its contribution to business and management is extremely large. Taylor’s famous four stages that raise the level of productivity in work are deeply ethical and significant in the 21st century: To elaborate every element of work with a scientific experience that would replace old empirical methods; to develop, specialize, form and train the worker instead of being left to himself; to follow up every worker to make sure that the work is well performed according to the principles set out; Equally divide the responsibility and duty between management and workers, and administration thereby take on everything that exceeds the competences of the workers. Each stage contains both ethical aspects of it, and in a wider context it can be treated as a structure of an ethical code applicable in such models of production. The incomplete deployment of machines and the improper behavior/work of workers was exceeded by rational organization of production. Each phase of the work is observed and scientifically analyzed, to make “best possible” norms; all factors that occur in the performance of the work operations should be studied; Measurement (chronometrics) of work movements were specifically elaborated and based on that measurement created a solid base for the selection of those movements most necessary for raising the level of productivity of work. Identification and analysis of the ethical aspects of Taylorism and so-called scientific management is the main subject of this scientific paper.
