In recent years, there has been growing interest in the development and implementation of workplace prevention programs based on contemporary models of occupational health. An analysis of the scientific literature shows that psychosocial risks are a significant factor affecting the health, well-being, and professional effectiveness of employees in residential care social services. Despite the growing attention to this issue, there remain gaps in awareness, perception, and management of these risks, which justifies the need for empirical research in specific organizational contexts. Particularly relevant in this regard is the residential care sector, where the nature of the work involves numerous psychosocial risks. These risks are particularly pronounced in residential care facilities housing individuals with mental disorders, intellectual disabilities, and dementia. In this context, a study was conducted among 55 employees in residential care services for individuals in the target groups, aimed at analyzing their awareness and perceptions of psychosocial risks. More than half of the respondents (57.69%) identified these risks through specific “workplace risk factors,” while nearly half (48.08%) linked them directly to occupational stress. It is noteworthy that the social context (relationships within the team and with clients) is identified as a risk factor by one in three employees (32.69%). Three-quarters (74%) of them consider psychosocial risks to be equally significant as physical hazards. An analysis of employees’ self-assessments regarding stress reveals consistent levels of reported awareness. Two-thirds of respondents (64.15%) believe that maintaining a work-life balance is of high importance. Regarding the assessment of the work environment, 83% of those surveyed report a high level of satisfaction. A significant proportion (87%) of respondents state that they have complete clarity regarding their responsibilities and role in the workplace. Alongside clarity regarding individual responsibilities, the level of employee awareness regarding dynamic changes in the organization’s structure and management is also critical to psychosocial stability. The results indicate a high degree of transparency in the management of the services surveyed. A significant proportion (74%) of the sample report that they are well-informed about upcoming organizational changes. An important aspect of the study is the extent to which employees are informed about the regulations concerning their safety. The data show that 89% of respondents are aware of their employers’ obligations. The main challenge remains transforming this awareness into active organizational mechanisms for support and effective prevention of psychosocial risks.
