Abstract

This article aims to explore the theoretical and practical dimensions of social emotional learning (SEL) as a critical factor in developing entrepreneurial competence. It is argued that developing social awareness and resilience not only helps individuals cope with the uncertainty and risk inherent in entrepreneurship but also lays the foundation for ethical and socially responsible leadership. Entrepreneurship is viewed not merely as a skill for starting a business, but as a key transversal competence that encompasses critical thinking, digital literacy, communication, initiative, creativity, and resilience. By examining the core qualities required of an entrepreneur and the link between the emotional and cognitive aspects of learning, this paper proposes a framework for more effectively integrating social emotional skills into vocational entrepreneurship education. It analyzes how the five core pillars of SEL (self awareness, self management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making) correspond with entrepreneurial mindsets. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of emotional resilience as a factor in overcoming the inevitable risks and failures in the entrepreneurial process. Furthermore, the paper examines how social awareness and conflict management contribute to building effective teams and networks.
Emotional intelligence and social skills form the bedrock upon which specific entrepreneurial abilities are built. Without the capacity for empathy and relationship management, theoretical knowledge of entrepreneurship remains difficult to apply in real world environments. Integrating social emotional skills into the educational process within vocational education not only enhances the personal effectiveness of future entrepreneurs but also fosters the creation of ethical and socially responsible businesses.
