Abstract

The establishment of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in 1994, as an agency dealing with the registration of trademarks and registered designs of individuals and companies from the European Union, represented a fundamental step towards the harmonisation of intellectual property rights across the EU. On the other hand, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), established for a specific purpose by the United Nations, which is composed of several associated agencies, takes care of the recognition and protection of creative rights at the global level. The paper will analyze the direct influence of the experiences of these two international institutions in shaping the legal regulations and the methodology of the work of the State Industrial Property Office of the Republic of North Macedonia.
