EXPOLORING THE ROLE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN MATHEMATICAL LITERACY
Keywords:
artificial intelligence, mathematical literacyAbstract
In the era of digitalization and globalization, the education sector is undergoing changes and acquiring new highly intelligent nuances, namely the introduction of various digital basic tools such as neural networks, artificial intelligence, etc. Technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI) are changing the way we work with information, learning and communication. They can search and organize data, generate ideas and new content. In general, AI technologies are mathematical models that have a huge computational code, capable of making predictions, solving an intellectual problem based on criteria for evaluating this problem, analyzing a huge amount of information, databases, giving the most realistic and correct answer. The advantage of AI technologies is their ability to learn, they can learn independently, without the direct participation of an IT specialist. This explains the great importance of using artificial intelligence in the field of education, in particular in mathematics education. The introduction of AI into the educational process provides new opportunities for improving the quality of learning, personalizing the educational process, and increasing students' interest in learning mathematics. The application of artificial intelligence in mathematics is related to a similar logical problem of using a computer to determine the intelligence of a student. Artificial intelligence describes machines capable of performing cognitive functions related to the mind of students, such as problem solving and learning. It consists in understanding, developing, and applying methods for representing information collected from external sources and stored in the computer. They help in understanding the information and planning further actions. When presenting lecture material in mathematics to prove a theorem, students are shown fragments of areas in which it is difficult to reason about the essence of some aspects that are significant for proving the theorem. As a result, some of the theorems cannot be automated. In addition, to prove a mathematical theorem, you can apply the methods and technologies of proving the theorem, which include hidden transformations occurring in the human mind. Mathematics is an abstract science. In recent decades, the field of mathematics has undergone a great expansion in the areas where artificial intelligence has had an impact and in which it is a useful tool. This article presents the role of artificial intelligence in mathematics education, which aims to develop mathematical literacy. In order to better understand the potential of artificial intelligence in teaching mathematics, both the strengths and limitations of traditional methods are analyzed. Some applications of artificial intelligence in education are presented, and its role in the development of mathematical literacy is illustrated through practical tasks from the PISA surveys aimed at assessing students' mathematical literacy.
