Abstract

Cholecystitis is characterized by inflammation of the gallbladder, typically caused by the presence of gallstones that obstruct the cystic duct or by other factors such as infection or ischemia. Patients experience pain, discomfort and anxiety that are closely related with their condition, which affects their quality of life and daily activities. Cholecystitis is a common and potentially serious condition that requires prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Data were used for patients diagnosed with cholecystitis from: PHI General Hospital "Ferid Murad" Gostivar, R. North Macedonia. in the period from 2020 2022. In this period an analysis was made about the fact which gender is more represented, what are the reasons for its occurrence, what are the symptoms that are manifest in the patients, as well as the benefits of taking preventive measures in time to prevent complications that may occur 3In the analyzed period, a total of 173 patients fell ill, of which: women 141, while men 32. In the first trimester, 55 patients were diagnosed, in the second trimester also 55 patients, while in the third trimester the incidence increased to 63 patients. Research has been done on the distribution of cholecystitis in terms of number and gender. from the conducted research it was concluded that the risk group for this disease is the female population. The disease have a number of risk factors such as: overweight, rapid weight loss, lack of physical activity, family history, pregnancy and diabetes. Women are at greater risk compared to men due to hormonal influences that affect the formation of gallstones.
