PROTECTING THE BULGARIAN LANGUAGE – A GUARANTEE OF OUR NATIONAL SECURITY

Abstract

The anxiety of the events that outline the appearance of the 21st century and the expectations for the following decades make the topic of maintaining and strengthening national security now constantly relevant. This is because life on the Old Continent is permanently changing, and social tranquility and security seem to be diminishing. The new, which has imperceptibly settled into our lives in recent years, is described vividly and impressively by the American writer of Lebanese origin Nassim Taleb in his bestseller "The Black Swan".
The Black Swan is a brilliant metaphor for new phenomena in the modern world. It is a highly original, elegant, accurate and yet universal portrayal of our surprising adverse events in life, which are large-scale and have a huge impact on humanity. Unfortunately, black swans are now part of our new historical reality, from decades back to today. Now there is the military conflict, the problems with migrants, until recently the pandemic and the energy crisis, earlier - the attack on the twin towers in America, as well as the increasingly large-scale and unfavorable climate changes on the planet.
In Bulgaria, the instability is connected first of all with the impossibility of conducting a constructive inter-party dialogue over the years, with repeated parliamentary elections and change of governments without creating a sustainable cabinet. This leads to a crisis in all social spheres in the country. Thus, uncertainty, one of the main characteristics of the new era, both in Europe and in our country, poses many questions in the public space related to the strengthening and protection of European states. Indicative of this is the opinion of the winner of the 2023 annual award for journalism of the Union of Bulgarian Writers Prof. Dr. Myumyun Tahirov in his book "Philosophy of Creativity" that "..we live in a world which, in the words of Zbigniev Brzezinski, can be likened to an airplane flying on autopilot, whose speed is constantly increasing without knowing where it will land... ... the paradox of today's political and spiritual situation in our country consists in the fact that, at the same time, everyone who wants to get to power refers to the national idea, to Bulgarian national interests and values. Today, the Bulgarian people are being depersonalized, as a result of which our national spirit is collapsing." This memorable metaphor and assessment completes the vision of today's dynamic and problem-burdened world, in which national values seem to become less and less noticeable. All these events, taken together, emphasize the relevance of the concept of "security" both for Europe and specifically for each country, and adequate solutions are sought.
