This paper focuses on the importance of care and treatment for patients before and after open-heart surgery. It presents the main principles of preoperative and postoperative care, the role of the nurse, indications for surgery, the surgical procedure, and possible complications. The thesis also emphasizes psychological support, patient and family education, and measures to prevent infections and other complications. Proper and professional nursing care significantly improves surgical outcomes, reduces the risk of complications, and enhances the patient’s quality of life.
