FACTORS DETERMINING SKILL AND PERFORMANCE IN 13–14-YEAR-OLD FEMALE BASKETBALL PLAYERS

Abstract

Revealing the factor matrix of physical and technical-tactical preparation, specific preparedness or game efficiency is a mission that has great information value for improving the learning process.
It has been proven that through factor analysis, latent variables are revealed that predetermine one or another process, and the composition of the studied multi-component phenomenon is discovered and penetrated deeper into, which in the study is an effective indicator.
The purpose of the experiment is to reveal latent variables in factor matrices and determine the primary factors of mastery and performance in 13–14-year-old basketball players from the "Misia" zone.
To implement the goal of the study, two tasks were set:
- To determine the factor weights of the latent variables for mastery and performance using the principal components method in basketball players from the four studied teams.
- To establish the rotated factor structures and meaningfully interpret the results of the four experimental groups.
The study contingent is 13–14-year-old basketball players from the teams of “Chardafon”, Gabrovo, “Dunav Ruse 2016”, Ruse, “Svetkavitsa”, Targovishte and “Spartak-Pl”, Pleven. Their total number is 56, 14 athletes per team. The experiment was conducted at the end of the 2022/2023 sports and competitive year.
Regarding the “presentation” of the athletes, the element of “unfair recognition” comes first. According to them, the coach pays more attention only to the stars, and that only they contribute to the success of the team. The coach clearly shows who, in his opinion, are the best players and favors some of the players more than others. This gives us reason to claim that the coaches of all four teams should work on their mental resilience, which is an important prerequisite for success.
According to some authors, the behavior of the coach plays a critical role in the performance of athletes. In this sense, it would be difficult for an athlete to maintain emotional balance if he does not see mental resilience and stability in his own coach.
Conclusion:
- After rotating the determinants, the latent matrices of three of the teams consist of two factors, and that of the team from the SC "Chardafon" of three.
- The highest factor weight in three of the teams is the attribute "joint learning", followed by "unfair recognition" in all four teams.
- The first factor in importance in the teams from the SC "Svetkavitsa" and SC "Spartak-Pl" is the factor "mastery" or "teamwork".
- The second most important factor in this study for the teams from SC "Svetkavitsa" and SC "Spartak-Pl" is "unfair recognition" or "coach's favorites", for the team from "Dunav Ruse 2016" it is first, and for the team from "Chardafon" it is third.
