STRESS EXPOSURE OF HEALTH WORKERS AT THE WORKING PLACES

Abstract

Health workers are exposed in increasing measures to enormous stress at the working places, especially the reason is of more and more physical and verbal attacks from the patients who receive their service, as well as from their families. The cause of stress is coming also from overtime work, lack of quality sleep, also the conflict with other health workers at work. By the nature of work, health workers are exposed to enormous stress and which is the reason that the complete system, from the users of the health care, their followers, should have more understanding through the process of health care so the stress would decrease and the work would be more successful. Inability of fulfilling the requests of surroundings, and requests that follow the line of work could lead to professional stress of the health workers.
The aim of the paper is the overview of available professional and scientific literature and showing the ways in which the health workers are exposed to stress in working places. The paper is developed as an review article.
The materials of research are the papers published in relevant database in period from 2017. until 2025. The analysis of these papers results confirms that health workers are exposed to various kinds of stress at working places. The authors notice that the health workers, besides the exposure to physical and verbal attacks, and work in shifts, the most stressful is lack of medical personnel and emotional fatigue. To decrease exposure to stress of health workers at their working places, it is necessary to educate workers about stress, and in which manner stress affects the quality of their lives. The direct talk about issues which are encountered by health workers, and to initiate positive thinking about themselves and the situations too which happen at. In the end, if necessary, the authorized institutions should initiate free psychological advising of workers.
